Shirdi- A Soulful Experience

This little town in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra is renowned for the much revered Sai Baba, who preached religious tolerance and equality amongst all. It is believed that Sai Baba came to Shirdi in his adolescence and stayed there till he left for his heavenly abode in 1918. During his years in Shirdi he is believed to have cured ailing & diseased with his healing powers.

Sai Baba's teachings, removed from all religions, focus on humanity, peace and religious harmony. Shirdi commemorates some of his favorite haunts and his final resting place and is a famous pilgrimage for is devotees.

Sai Baba's Temple

This grand temple, located in the middle of the town, enshrines the Samadhi (burial site) of the venerated saint. Sai Baba left his mortal body for his heavenly abode in 1918 at this place. This temple is both a source of blessing and inspiration for Sai devotees. Its soothing & spiritual environs have a calming effect on one's soul.

Gurusthan Sai Baba

The spot where Sai Baba was first spotted meditating under a Neem tree is marked by a white shrine. It was here that he is believed to have wielded his healing powers to cure the sick. Devotees firmly believe that lighting an incense stick at the shrine can cure them of all ailments.

Abdul Baba's Cottage

Abdul Baba was an ardent follower of Sai Baba. His cottage houses exhibits of Sai Baba and is considered a place of religious & historical importance.

Dwarkamai

A beautiful mosque, Dwarkamai is the place where Sai Baba lived for almost 60 years before leaving for his heavenly abode. The oil paintings of Sai Baba in the mosque are a major attraction for the devotees.

Lendi Bagh

A garden, a favorite meditating spot of Sai Baba, is now considered holy and an oil lamp perpetually burns there in a glass box.
